Joselio Hanson, the team's nickel corner was signed to
5 year, 21 million dollar contract with 6.4 million in guarantees.
Hanson's agent Jeff Nalley pontificated on the organization's financial respect for the corner position:
"To commit this kind of money to a third corner is very strong."
And once again, if you're keeping score at home, the Birds illustrate that they are the antithesis of "cheap" when it comes to running their organization.
This is one of those signings that good organizations make. Usually the nickel corner looks for greener pastures (no pun intended), like Rod Hood. This make Lito a nice bargaining chip over the next 2 months. You just hope his value didn't plummet too much over last year. Hopefully they get Thomas and Dawkins signed to 2 year deals in the next week or so.
And Dave, you know the fan base (if you can call them fans) that cry the Birds are cheap will ignore this signing and spew their vinegar elsewhere. I'm giving 2:1 odds that it's "why won't we sign Jeff Garcia".
I wonder what the Birds could get for Sheppard at this point - 4th rounder max? Who knows.
