I'll update this thread as signings occur today.
3:45PM
- Brian Dawkins is visiting Denver. Honestly front office, just sign the guy. Sign him to an over market two year deal. He's a leader, a player coach, a fan legend, and a great team guy. You wonder why you have a bad reputation in Philadelphia front office? Because of horse shit like this.
11:30 AM
- I'm reporting that Sporting News is reporting that PFT.com is reporting that the Eagles have signed Stacy Andrews (Shawn's brother) to a multiyear deal contingent on a physical. Interesting. Maybe he can bring some stability to his baby brother's life.
10:15 AM
- The Washington Redskins gave $100 million dollars ($41 million guaranteed) to Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth is an excellent tackle, but is a guy that has averaged 12.8 games a season really worth it?
950 reporting that the eagles have signed Stacy Andrews to a multi year deal
If Andrews is healthy, this is a very good signing. I like what Dave added, that this may be a stabilizing factor in the life of our most talented lineman. I'm sad that this likely ends the Eagles career of Jon Runyan. Heard the DE from Arizona is on our radar. Not sure we need more depth there, but it can't hurt.
Tried to get an update via WIP this morning. Big mistake. The morning clowns were talking about how the Redskins aren't afraid "to go for it" with their signings. It's not even worth the keystorkes to argue.
I'll be interested to see where the center from Baltimore goes. I really like his game, but $7 million for a center might be pushing it.
There is a report out of St. Louis that has Holt coming to the Birds in a trade for Reggie Brown and a draft pick. What anyone would want with Reggie Brown is beyond me, but I guess it is a something for nothing situation for the Rams, because I think Holt wants out and they are rebuilding.
Why is everyone so eager to replace Jamal Jackson? Am I the only one who thinks he a pretty good player?
I used to love Holt as a player but he is definitely on the decline. I'd rather them go after some in their prime. I saw Winslow got traded for some picks. I think he'd have been a help here.
I love the Andrews signing as I do think it'll help with his brother and he is a very good player too. Lineman recover from those knee injuries pretty well as their game isn't based on speed.
I agree with Dave about the 1st day RB. If anything I'd say they should go for one in the 1st or 2nd round.
Prattski, I do think Jamal Jackson is a pretty good player. I think Brown would have been an upgrade. I think Jackson did a better job last year, but he still can get moved by strong interior defenders. I thought if the Birds have to kick one of the starting guards out to play tackle, they could use more power inside (especially now that we have to see Haynesworth twice a year).
I read that the Bucs may also get Michael Bush from the Raiders. This might be key for Eagles fans because they are one of the teams who pick before us and are rumored to pick a RB in the first round. I know it's too early to project toward the draft, but we'll see.
The Birds have some versatile linemen so it is really a crap shoot. McGlynn can play anywhere on the line. Cole can play guard and center. Everyone knows about Herremans and Andrews. The center class of the draft is insanely good this year too so if the Birds are unhappy with Jackson, they have some options there.
Lito Sheppard has been traded to the Jets according to ESPN for 'draft picks'
In comparison Kellen Winslow JR got traded for a 2nd this year and a 5th next year
Cassell seems to have been traded to the chiefs.
Reportedly that Housh guy sent a text to 950 AM and said he'd be an eagle tomorrow if the eagles wanted him.
It hurts losing Dawkins and, ultimately, Runyan, but I like the moves so far. Andrews offers a lot of flexibility as he can play RT or LG (provided Herremans can move to LT), and he's a good young player. Getting picks for Lito may free up a chance at going after Boldin or Gonzalez. I'm worried about depth at safety and I'm not happy about Dawk leaving, but if the Eagles play their cards right this could be a pretty good off season.
