If anyone out there is excited as I am about this, may I use you as a character witness with the female population? I just need to prove that there are other guys who watch this, yet are known to have wives or girlfriends or both. Those of us who like the combine do not necessarily hold the world record score in Donkey Kong, speak Klingon, or have a master's rank in Dungeons & Dragons. Although I find myself trying to talk like Mike Mayock, so maybe I do have issues...
Bob, I have a wife.
I think we should start some sort of secret society. I am just as excited as you. We have problems, but they could be worse. At least we're not addicted to crack.
Seriously, my wife just asked me if I wanted her to buy the Mel Kiper Draft Guide for my birthday in April. Not sure if that means I have a great wife or a very serious addiction. Maybe crack would be cheaper.
Bob, you are my hero. I also have a wife, but I don't think she would ever buy me a draft guide. That is quite impressive. In my experience, the sports guys who shun the draft talk are just too lazy to do their due diligence, so they invariably fall back on the "geek" argument. We're not geeks, we just want to be fully informed. Note- these are the same guys who don't care about the finances of player contracts either, which I never understood. If you don't understand where your team is financially, you can't understand what they are capable of. Same deal. Staying fully informed.
I don't claim to be a huge fantasy football guy, but much like the combine, both are (or were) ridiculed by the mainstream media. The old guard of newspaper men don't understand it, so they mock those who are into it (much like the boxing people who put down MMA).
Prattski, I couldn't agree more with following a team's cap situation. This is not the NFL of the 90's and this is why scouting and determining position value is so important. This is why I can't listen to WIP in the morning when they call the Eagles cheap and scream about signing every free agent out there.
Did everyone see the article this morning about shopping Justice? Now that Matt Millen is out of the league, who would actually give up something to get him? Looks more likely Thomas gets resigned.
Haynesworth is going to test the free agent market. Anyone think he'd look good in green?
At first glance, we're pretty deep on the DLine already, but then again it looks like other high-impact FAs are disaapearing from the market pre-emptively every day, so I am not sure where else Lurie should spend his money.
But if you do get this guy, who sits? Considering we are throwing third down fastballs with Howard and Abiamiri as rush tackles, Big Al/Bunk/Patterson is a lot of money/talent to have rotating through 2 spots x 2 downs.
