Andy Reid, the entire Eagles defense and David Akers deserve a lion's share of the credit for this win.
Reid for sticking with the run through the entire game. He never let Minny pin their ears back and go after McNabb full force. The yardage gained was paltry, but the commitment to the run was huge.
Akers for turning his season around after a shaky start and becoming a bonafide weapon. 4/4 with hits from 43, 51, 31 and 45.
And finally the defense for stifling the Vikings. Two big plays led to the two touchdowns, one by Peterson and one by Berrian. After the half, Minnesota crossed midfield only once, and that was after recovering a fumble on their own 46 and putting together a 5-yard drive before punting. Asante's INT return for a TD was the big impact play, but you can credit every member of that defense. Trent Cole led the way with 13 tackles. Weapon X had a sack and forced fumble. Gocong was consistently in the backfield, disrupting the running game. Just an outstanding effort from that group. They held the Vikings at bay until the offense could punch it and put the game away.
One last note. On the Westbrook TD, I counted 6 Eagles who made key blocks down the field. That's the type of effort needed to win tough, defensive battles like this one. Great work.
Huge win. Now it's time to get ready for the Giants.
Nice win by the Eagles..The Vikings were like a brick wall when trying to run against them. Good thing westbrook broke that play...with a little help from the refs. It looked to me like Nick Cole(I think) could have been called for blocking in the back but it wasnt called...did u catch that ?
Anyway...defense was huge. This was just a team effort by all involved and the Eagles needed every last bit of it against a very game Vikings team. Eagles will have to be better next week to beat the Giants.
I think that Vikings front 7 was the best the Eagles have faced this season. Glad everyone remained composed and kept plugging away against a quality foe.
What a fun game to watch, kudos to the birds and a great playoff win. Reid really managed the game well so I have to give him credit. They haven't won on the road in a playoff game since January 2002, at the Bears. Sign of things to come?
Reid was excellent. Didn't throw a single losing challenge flag, used his timeouts well. Play calling was great. Just an overall good game. Is that true about the 2002 game vs. the Bears? Wow. I remember that game, they knocked the Bears' QB out on an interception.

One general question--is the tuck rule still a rule? I never see it called or hear the announcers talk about it, but in the play where McNabb lost the ball, why is that any different than when brady lost it that one time? I never understood that rule.
They changed it after the Brady play, I believe. If the hand is empty when it comes forward, it's a fumble.
Kind of came out like I expected - a road game against a tough defense is never easy.
The Nick Cole effort on the screen was amazing - after he almost got in the way of the screen to begin with.
