Sheldon Brown was the only veteran missing from today's voluntary (mandatory) team activities at the Novacare Complex. Ellis Hobbs worked opposite Asante Samuel as the first team starting cornerbacks. It is what it is, and I'm not going to get bent out of shape over the whole deal. I guarantee the local outlets will take the non-story and run with it however. To me, it's not a story until Brown skips out on any actual training camp time come July 29th. Here's to Brown staying professional - since he's a far better starting corner than Ellis Hobbs - don't let anyone tell you he isn't.
Other notes from the OTAs:
- Max Jean-Gilles worked with the first team as the starting right guard, with Stacy Andrews conserving his energy for individual drills. This struck me as surprising because I've read many musings that had Jean-Gilles slow to recover from last year's leg injury.
- Todd Herremans and Kevin Curtis, also coming off injury, were active in practice.
- Brian Westbrook sat out this go around, likely to rest his recently "cleaned out" knee.
More news will likely roll in as the day progresses.
